Introduce
Improving fleet safety can be complex—from accidents caused by technical problems or careless driving to various crimes and other incidents punishable by law. Because of the high cost, it cannot always be considered a key area of focus for fleet management. Jimi dual-channel LTE dashcam fleet tracking solution minimizes collision costs.
Challenge
For fleets, the significant risk faced by employees who drive to work is compounded by the high cost of fleet vehicle accidents. Among the most expensive claims for a business, the average cost of a loss related to a fleet accident can be double the cost of an average work-related injury.
And, in addition to damage to vehicles and other property, such accidents can lead to lost productivity and revenue. When employees are at fault, companies face liability claims and, for self-insured operations, there are direct costs.
When a company vehicle is involved in an accident, the apparent costs are just the tip of the iceberg. Because, unlike obvious repair or insurance excess charges, the true cost impact is hidden beneath the surface. These include the loss of key personnel to injury or ill health, loss of business, potential reputational damage, and the cost of hiring a replacement vehicle when a company car or van goes off the road.
Many of these figures never show up on the balance sheet, and all the CFO sees are insurance costs and perhaps excess costs. But they didn’t see that employee absent for seven hours trying to resolve the issue with the rental company, or worse, that they were injured by the collision.
Solution
Reducing the number of collisions is the best way to reduce costs. Minimizing collision costs can start with vehicle equipment selection. A dash camera equipped with an advanced telematics system can leverage high-end DMS technology to help capture the information most important to your business to guide your drivers, reduce risk, prevent fraudulent insurance claims and protect your business reputation.
We chose the Jimi JC400D DMS-enabled dual-channel LTE dash cam to meet this challenge.
The JC400D is equipped with two cameras, an integrated 1080P road-facing camera and a detachable driver-facing camera—which can record the field of view in two directions—front (i.e. what is happening on the road) and rear (i.e. driver and passenger (If there is)). Photographing the frontal exterior can be invaluable in the event of a crash by capturing other traffic participants, while recording the interior of the car can provide a clear picture of what is happening inside the car.
Driver Monitoring (DMS)
The driver-monitoring camera uses an AI algorithm to detect your driver’s status such as drowsy driving (nodding off, frequent yawning, droopy eyes) or distracted driving (talking or texting on a phone, looking away), and gives out audible alert s to remind drivers in real-time to stay vigorous at the wheel. When combined with Tracksolid Pro, you can receive DMS-specific push notifications and view the inattentive driving reports on your mobile or online.
Event Video to Cloud
In the event of a collision or reckless driving behavior, the JC400D will, as required, capture crisp, clear video clips and upload them to the cloud for evidentiary support and later review. The reliable 4G module allows data to be transmitted to the cloud- based platform faster, so you can respond or take action at the earliest time possible.
Driving Behavior Analysis (DBA)
Leveraging data on the reckless driving behavior of your drivers will help reduce the accident rate, rate or coach drivers to increase safety awareness on the road, and improve the fuel economy of your fleet. This can further save you on your insurance expenditure.
- Harsh acceleration
- Hard braking
- Sharp cornering
- Collision
Real-time Tracking
The GNSS module provides precise real-time location data of en-route fleet vehicles as well as cargoes. In this way, you can always keep an eye on them to see if anything unexpected happens during the transit and review these history routes if issues arise later.
Panic Button
In the event of an accident or other emergency, one-press of the panic button (SOS) will trigger the device to help the driver or passenger initiate an emergency call to the preset emergency numbers and the back office until the call is answered. The platform will also flag this important event for later review. The external SOS button can be installed within easy reach of the driver or passenger for quick activation, giving peace of mind to all.
Benefits
- Real-Time Tracking: Monitoring the location of vehicles can do wonders for business efficiency. The larger the fleet, the greater the benefits – efficient resource management, cost optimization, increased safety and ease of handling of maintenance issues, to name a few.
- Important information about road accidents: video recordings and photos can give you a clear picture of what happened and why.
- Two-way viewing: captures the road ahead and the interior of the vehicle (including the driver)
- Driving Behavior Analysis: Reduce accident rates, guide drivers to improve road safety awareness, and improve fleet fuel economy.
- Panic Button: An external SOS button can be mounted within easy reach of the driver or passenger for quick activation and peace of mind for all.
Why Jimi IoT?
